Veterinary Assistant

Our veterinary assistants are invaluable to our veterinarians. Veterinary assistants assist with treatments and examinations. Cleaning, stocking, and organization of equipment and supplies while following biosecurity guidelines. A very physical job this position requires long hours of standing and the ability to jog a horse. On-call and weekend duties are shared equally. Extensive prior horse experience is required. This is part time work that requires lifting. The ability to read and write English is required.

Stable Attendant

Our stable attendants do much more than feed horses. As the “first eyes” on the horses each day they screen for injuries and illness. Our stable attendants learn how to handle mares, stallions, and foals with safety. Our facility is carefully cleaned by our team of attendants every day. The perfect job for high school and college students and caring adults who enjoy working on the farm.
Prior horse experience is required. This is part-time work that requires lifting. The ability to read and write English is required.

Veterinary Externships

Veterinary students who are actively enrolled in veterinary school may apply and join the staff of Central Georgia Equine Services for one or two weeks. Under the direct supervision of our veterinarians, they will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in equine practice. Housing is available if needed. Students will be able to experience the day-to-day operations of our farm and practice. Positions are limited to provide the ultimate experience for each student. We fill positions on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Veterinary Shadows

Central Georgia Equine Services offers opportunities for high school and undergraduate students to “shadow” our veterinarians. Students spend the day with the veterinary team as they make their rounds through clinic cases and treatments. Student Shadows observe the veterinarians and assistants at work and observe patient care and diagnostic procedures. Students must reserve a spot for the day by contacting the office. Interested students can complete the form for scheduling.
