Veterinary Assistant

This is a part-time position that involves assisting in the care, examination and treatment of patients at Central Georgia Equine Services.  This position will involve both ambulatory and clinic-based work, the successful candidate will be required to be on call for emergency and weekend duty on a rotating basis.

Candidates must be reliable, hard-working and able to communicate confidently with clients and other team members. Our goal is for this to be a permanent employment position.

Practical experience in equine practice or a similar position is highly desired. A strong interest in horses and veterinary medicine is desired. Advanced horse handling skills are essential. This position requires work outside where you may be exposed to sunshine, rain and wind. Summer heat and winter cold can be challenging. Prolonged standing, walking and lifting are required.

A valid driver’s license is required. Applicants must be able to read and write English. A working knowledge of mathematics is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed an accredited Veterinary Technician program with a current LVT license.

Stable Attendant

This is a part time position working on our stables. This job involves feeding horses, cleaning stalls, moving horses to and from stables and paddocks and assisting with treatments and the care and maintenance of the facilities at Central Georgia Equine Services.

Barn Crew is formed of teams of two people per shift. Morning Crew shifts begin at 7am while Evening Crew shifts begin at 4pm. The Barn Crew operates daily including holidays and weekends. Barn Crew members are assigned 3-5 shifts per week.

This position requires work outside where you may be exposed to sunshine, rain and wind. Barn Crew members achieve exercise goals quickly due to the volume of walking required. Barn Crew members must be able to lift feed sacks and hay bales that average 50lbs. The employee will have to push a loaded wheelbarrow up a ramp.

Barn Crew members regularly work with show horses, stallions, mares with foals and patients of every size and description.  Employees are required to work in pants and wear leather boots. A valid driver’s license is required. You must be age 16 to apply. Prior experience with horses is required.
