Ambulatory Services & Emergency Care

Emergency Care

There is nothing worse than that helpless feeling of watching your horse bleed or roll on the ground in pain. We are currently offering limited hours of emergency service for new and existing clients due to staffing issues. We offer emergency services from 8 am to 10 pm, 365 days per year!

During office hours, our receptionists will dispatch the veterinarian who can arrive most quickly to assess and treat your horse. At night and on weekends your telephone call will go directly to the doctor on duty, not some answering service that doesn’t understand what the word colic means to a horse owner. Again, we are happily accepting new patients, so give us a call today!

Here are a few conditions that should never wait until tomorrow:

  • Colic
  • Lacerations
  • Active Bleeding
  • Choke
  • Eye Injuries
  • Dystocia (Difficult birth)
  • Retained Placenta
  • Foals that cannot stand and nurse
  • Fever
  • Non weight-bearing lameness
  • Difficult Breathing

If you’re ever unsure whether your horse needs emergency care, please call us at (478) 825-1981. In the event of an emergency, stay calm, clearly state your name and location, and avoid using the phone so we can promptly call you back. One of our veterinarians will return your call within a few minutes to assist you.

For emergencies that occur outside our regular hours, we recommend EMERGENCY HOSPITAL for trusted after-hours care. They provide quality emergency services when we’re closed, and we’ll obtain your horse’s records to ensure seamless follow-up care if needed. Their contact and website information are listed here for your convenience.
