Internal Medicine
You know he’s not right. A little cough, he didn’t finish his feed, diarrhea, flooding the stall with urine, and nasal discharge are just a few of the many symptoms of an internal problem. Using a wide variety of diagnostic tests we aim to get to the bottom of your horses’ problem. We’ll start with an inclusive physical examination and move forward with specialized testing. A complete blood evaluation can be done in our lab in minutes.
Horses with respiratory disease can have a tracheal wash, bronchoalveolar lavage and endoscopy done right here. Neurologic cases can have a spinal tap done here too using the new ultrasound-guided method. Abdominal ultrasound and peritoneal taps are routine here. Our hospital facility is equipped to handle large volume fluid administration using special IV sets and an apparatus that allows your horse to move freely. We also have the capabilities to administer fresh frozen plasma as well as whole blood transfusions for life threatening conditions. From diagnostics to therapeutics we’ll do our best to solve the case.
